What does it do?
Echo show has the same Alexa system but now a screen, for example, if you ask what the weather forecast is it won’t just say what is it will show you like you would see on your phone. On the Echo Show, you can watch videos and movies through Amazon Instant Video* or listen to music through Amazon Music*. You can also control some types of smart home devices for example with a security camera, you can ask Alexa to show you the front door and then you can see a live view of what is happening through your camera by the front door. You can also make hands-free video calls to anyone with an Echo show or that has the Alexa App or just voice calls to anyone with any Echo device. If the Show is in the kitchen you can ask to see cooking videos on YouTube and is not just limited to Amazons Video services. This is the same for music as well, you can use things like Spotify as well as Amazon Music.

The Echo show has lots of features like; 7” touchscreen display, 5MP camera, far-field voice recognition using 8 microphones, Dual 2” stereo speakers, an Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor, Bluetooth and Dual Band 2.4GHz + 5GHz Wi-Fi.
Similarities and Differences between the Echo Show and the Echo.
The Echo show and the Echo both use the same Alexa voice controls but the show has a screen and well that can show you things. It is like what you would see if you were using Siri, what you have said and then information about whatever you asked. The Echo does not have a screen and only answers questions and does things through sound and is then limited by what it can do. The Echo Show has a camera and this means you can use it for video calling and this is also something the Echo does not have. The Echo show has Expansive, stereo sound powered by Dolby; dual full-range speakers for rich bass and balanced listening and the Echo has 360° omnidirectional audio; separate woofer and tweeter for deep bass and crisp high notes.
Should you upgrade from an Echo to an Echo Show?
That depends, if you already have an echo but you like watching videos and using video calls then yes you should as the Echo Show can do both of those things but the Echo cannot. If you are like me and your Echo is very near a TV or Computer then I would no benefit from having the echo show as I can watch videos on my Computer right next to my Echo. If you don’t already have an Echo and have the extra money to spend on it then yes you should get the Echo Show.
