HTC puts the squeeze on…
HTC has been known to do things a little different with the devices they release such as the HTC Evo with a kickstand, the 1st device with LTE, the HTC Evo 3d device with 3d cameras, Htc One M7 first device with the Boom front facing speakers and now the HTC U11 with squeeze technology.
With this new flagship, they are introducing Edge Sense, a new form of interaction. Edge sense allows a simple squeeze to unlock a whole new world of options. Launching the camera, taking pictures or google assistant or even toggle the flashlight on/off is probably options with an easy squeeze of the phone. It gets better HTC didn’t just stop there, riding on the tail of the Google Pixel that held the top DxOMark for a smartphone camera, they have now claimed the new highest ranking ever awarded to a smartphone with UltraSpeed Autofocus and active noise cancellation audio. Keeping the HTC U11 at its pace is an octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset with 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage (also has an SDcard slot) running Android 7.0 by a 3,000mAh battery. The device body is IP67 water and dust-resistant is formed with a liquid glass surface to catch the eye using Optical Spectrum Hybrid Deposition..that is a mouthful.
What does that mean, well by randomly layering highly-refractive minerals across the phone’s back cover every movement transforms light into these stunningly vivid new colors. 3D glass 5.5” screen adores the front to preserve the authenticity of images giving of true-to-life color reproduction. There is a 12-megapixel camera around the back with UltraSpeed Autofocus and 16-megapixel shooter on the front.
Sprint in the US has the exclusive partnership with HTC as they have been in the past for the U11, and it is available for preorder now, in fact, I just received an email for $50 off if I pre-order now. HTC U11 is slated to be in carrier stores on June 9th granted no delays come about. Pricing is lining up with other smartphones, now that carriers have done away with the 2-year upgrades and switched to device lease programs, the U11 can be had for $29 per month for 24 months. You also always have the option of buying outright which will cost a pretty penny $649 but after all, it is a new flagship device. Preordering this phone will score you a sweet perk! You can get the popular Amazon Echo Dots for free not one but two. An unlocked version compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon is also available for preorder from htc.com. Will this be the much need flagship HTC needs to ”squeeze” by the competition we will see.
