Huawei Watch 2 Review

It’s 2017 and Huawei is releasing all-new devices. Huawei launched its new smartwatch, the Huawei Watch 2. Yes, it’s a smartwatch just like the popular Apple Watch and Samsung Gear. Huawei has been a very popular option for Android Wear devices till now but why? Let’s find out.

Most users chose the Huawei Watch because of its design, solid performance and elegancy.

Design

If you thought Huawei was going to redesign it’s new smartwatch, you are wrong. The Huawei Watch 2 has a silver and gold body and has a sporty plastic build. Even though it has a plastic build, that doesn’t mean it is bad quality or bad looking. Actually, its the opposite of that. On the right side of the smartwatch, there are two buttons. The upper button is for opening app drawer or Google Assistant. While the lower button can be customized. On the face of the watch there is a round plate which does not move. It is only a cosmetic addition to the watch.

The only bad thing about the body is the lack of extra method of navigation. The screen is good quality, there is really no way to dislike it. After using it for a long time, its feel so much like an old Android Wear device. The display of smartwatches are getting better and better day by day. Straps should also be getting better and better. The Huawei Watch 2 strap feels cheaper than the price tag we pay.

Display

The Huawei Watch 2 has a 1.2 inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 390 x 390 which is pretty good. In fact, having a AMOLED display rather than a LCD screen helps improve the battery life. Other features include always-on display. You can also turn off the wake gesture which helps saves battery life.

Performance

Inside the Huawei Watch 2, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chip and 768MB of RAM. There is also a 420mAh Li-on battery inside and 4GB storage which stores multimedia. There is also NFC, GPS, Bluetooth and a heart rate sensor. NFC brings Android Pay where you can pay with your smartwatch. A SIM card slot is also included so you can call phone-free.

Battery life is the main highlight for the Huawei Watch 2. The watch has two power modes, first of all is the ultra-low power mode which makes the smartwatch more like a watch. This mode is automatically activated when the battery is very low. In general, the watch should be able to last long for two days which is something most smart watches won’t able to do.

For a price of $349, it is a lot of money but if the Huawei Watch 2 suits your lifestyle, it might be for you.
